04-Nov 0820 Seaton A body was recovered from the sea following a report of a missing elderly person.Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
28-Oct 2100 Sidmouth Police request assistance with a despondent person at Jacobs Ladder, Person was located and taken into police custody for their own safety.
25-Oct 1601 Beer While returning from the previous incident another section of container was seen off Beer beach, the lifeboat towed the 40' section to shore where it was pulled above the HW mark. The recent storm had blown these large sections onto the shore, these container were not believed to be from the MSC Napoli incident in Jan 2007.
25-Oct 1403 Littlecombe Shoot Report of a shipping container ashore, Sidmouth lifeboat towed the section of container to Branscombe where it was pulled up the beach for DCC to dispose off.
12-Oct 1825 Seaton Assist Devon and Cornwall police with a search for a missing 79 year old male who had not returned from a walk, Police helicopter, lifeboat and Coastguard search teams involved. The missing male was located safe and well in Seaton.
09-Oct 1721 Charton bay 2 persons cut off by the incoming tide, Lyme lifeboat launched, casualties located on "the Slabs" East of Culverhole, Lifeboat crewman had to swim ashore as the lifeboat was unable to get in close enough. Casualties were walked along the rocks and up a path into the landslip and met by the Coastguard team for transport back to their vehicle. Casualties were uninjured. Warning - please make sure you know the tide times,the duration of your walk, have the right clothing and let somebody know your route and expected return time, these people were very lucky, their mobile phone worked long enough to contact the Coastguard, as nobody knew where they were.
02-Oct 1247 River Axe Speedboat broken down towed into the river by another vessel
24-Sept 1638 Seaton Member of the public reported a capsized boat off Seaton, after interviewing the 1st informant it was found to be a Speedboat that was sitting low in the water and nobody was in difficulty, false alarm with good intent
15 Sept 1233 Haven Cliff Person collapsed and died on the coastpath East of Seaton, The casualty was recovered by an 8 man team. our thoughts are with the family.
31-Aug 1247 RRS Power failure back up system running, Western power dealing with a fault on the supply
28-Aug 1905 Jacobs Ladder Member of the public reported his dog swimming out to sea and not coming back, IRT tasked to investigate and speak to the owner, dog swam back to shore before IRT arrived on scene.
24-Aug 1208 Beer overdue speedboat 3 persons onboard, on route from Lyme to Beer, vessel had returned to Lyme due to the weather
23-Aug 1347 Weston Person collapsed on the coastpath at the top of East cliff Weston, Beer and Sidmouth IRT's tasked along with the air ambulance, casualty was airlifted to hospital by the air ambulance.
18-Aug 1103 Sidmouth, Beer, Seaton Devon and Cornwall police request assistance with a search for a missing 46 year old male, believed to be in the Sidmouth area, extensive search made along the coast between Sidmouth and Ladram bay by Helo and ground search teams, additional information received meant the search was moved to the Beer area, then a sighting in Seaton and the search moved to the Axe cliff Golf course area,Casualty was located and then detained by police near to Allhallows Estate between Seaton and Lyme Regis.
16-Aug 1714 Budleigh Salterton Exmouth CG request assistance to recover a dog from over the cliff, irt stood down as dog recovered by Devon Fire and Rescue
15 Aug 1454 Sherborne rocks FV with 2 people onboard, aground on Sherborne rocks, Lifeboat had to tow the 19 foot vessel off the rocks and into Beer Beach for Coastguards to winch the vessel up the beach before any damage could be assessed, only minor damage sustained. the boat had lost power and drifted onto the rocks.
10 Aug 0317 Sidmouth 2 sightings of a Red flare off Sidmouth, Sidmouth lifeboat launch to search off shore, Coastguard team searched along shoreline, after speaking to the first informant's it was found that the flare was fired from the byes area and that no persons were in danger, stood down at 0443
03 Aug 1550 Sidmouth Police request assistance in a search for a missing 10 year old girl, Girl was located by the police safe and well shortly after the search started.
01 Aug 1839 Weston Report of 3 men in a dingy trying to paddle to Sidmouth with small hand paddles, they were not making headway, Sidmouth lifeboat towed the dingy to Sidmouth where it was beach and the occupants advised not to go back to sea until the next day.
30 Jul 1647 River Axe Speedboat with engine failure, Sidmouth lifeboat towing a vessel from Ladram bay to river Axe, meet with lifeboat and owners of the vessel at Seaton.
30 Jul 0551 Culverhole Local boat reports picking 3 persons out of the water after their boat capsized and sunk 3/4 mile East of the river Axe, the 3 persons were uninjured and were taken to the shore for them to walk back to the river Axe. With the assistance of a another local boat the sunken vessel a 16' open boat with outboard was located on the sea bed 150m off shore, no pollution observed and the location was marked. These 3 persons were extremely lucky as the boat capsized at speed throwing them into the sea, and that a another boat was in the area at the time.
23 Jul 1117 Sidmouth Westcountry ambulance requested assistance with a collapsed male on the beach East of Alma bridge,after a call from a member of the public. The male did not require any medical treatment, He apparently had been there since the early hours and was sleeping off the effects of the night before.False alarm
19-Jul 2356 Exmouth Assist Exmouth Coastguard with a search for a vulnerable 66 year old male missing from home, Exmouth were involved with 2 unrelated searches at the same time on either side of the river Exe. Searched from Lympstone to Exmouth, nothing found, Police stood all units down at 0215. Casualty located in Exeter an hour later by the Police.
16-Jul 1822 Axe cliff Object reported on the cliff below Axe Cliff Golf Course, minor cliff fall had revealed an area of fresh chalk cliff face which was reflecting the sun.
27-Jun 1212 RRS Power tripped by contractors working in adjacent building, power reset
26-Jun 2346 Ladram bay Overdue rowing boat with 3 persons on board, set out from Budleigh at 2200 not arrived at Ladram by 2345. Beer, Sidmouth and Exmouth CG tasked to start a search along the coast while Sidmouth Lifeboat made a search off shore, the rowing boat made it to Ladram safe and well at 0011, safety advice was given.
26-Jun 1311 East Cliff Branscombe Lady fallen on the coastpath and suffered a suspected broken ankle, paramedics and coastguards placed the casualty on a stretcher and then she was airlifted to Dorchester hospital by CG helo 106
26-Jun 1141 River Axe 20' Fishing Vessel aground on the bar and swamped by the sea, the 2 occupants had made shore safely, local boats were attempting to pull the boat off the bar, Sidmouth lifeboat put a pump aboard but the vessel then went off the bar into deeper water and settled on the sea bed with the just the wheel house above the water. eventually the vessel was pulled to shore pumped out and pulled up the beach. we were called away to another incident as the boat was pulled ashore by a tractor.
25-Jun 1404 River Axe Canoeist reported overdue, she was located safe and well near the yacht moorings
19-Jun 2256 Exmouth Exmouth CG request assistance in a search for a missing person, the missing person was located as we were about to deploy the teams.
13-Jun 0000 RRS Equipment Power failure
12-Jun 1547 Seaton Fisherman reported up to his waist in the sea at HW trying to prevent his boat being swamped in a Southerly gale. The Fisherman came ashore and the boat, landing stage and a tender were hauled up the beach by a JCB.
31 May 1609 Branscombe Yacht Mudlark was looking for a mooring off Branscombe as it was out of fuel, The skipper was advised to sail round into Beer for a sheltered mooring but he was too exhausted to sail the vessel, Sidmouth lifeboat was tasked to tow the yacht into Beer where it could be moored overnight and the skipper could get some rest.
30 May 2229 Beer report of flashing lights near Beer head, 1st informant was in Seaton, the lights were navigation lights on 2 vessels moored in Beer bay
10 May 1309 Sidmouth Report of flashing light on the sea, investigation found this to be the sun reflecting of a marker buoy

26 Apr 1725 Sidmouth Cliff team requested to attend and standby while police deal with a dispondant male near the cliff edge, the casualty was later taken into custody.
25 Apr 1116 Rousdon Landslip Beer & Lyme Coastguard tasked to search the Rousdon landslip for a dispondant male, after information from the police indicated the casualty may have gone there. A search was made from the river Axe to Lyme Regis including Goat Island. The intensive search was in its 6 th hour when informed by Devon and Cornwall police that the missing person had been found safe in Exeter.
23 Apr 1535 Beer Police request a search for a missing 8 year old boy, Police located the boy on the road between Beer and Seaton, All Coastguard teams stood down before search began
15-Apr 0927 Branscombe A guest at a local hotel had gone for an early morning run but had not returned when expected, the search was just beginning when the runner returned to the hotel safe and sound.
08-Apr 1930 Beer Head Object seen floating approx 2 miles South of Hooken beach, The object was estimated to be about 15 feet in length and dark in colour, visibility of the object was lost in the failing light, A search by Coastguard helicopter and Sidmouth Lifeboat found nothing.
27-Mar 1257 Hooken Lady reported to be suffering chest pains and shortage of breath on Hooken stepps, casualty was ok after a 5 minute rest, she carried on up the steps with the coastguards in attendance to monitor her condition, casualty who was asthmatic did not want any further medical assistance, and carried on walking the coastpath.
22-Mar 0545 Beer see previous incident, a visual search was made at first light, visibilty was very good, searches were made all along the coast between Beer and Sidmouth, but nothing was found. Its possible the container had sunk, if that is the case it could be washed ashore on the next storm or we may never see it again!
21-Mar 1929 Branscombe A Beach fisherman reported a shipping container drifting Eastwards 200m off Branscombe beach, A search was started but was soon happered by a sea fog which meant visibilty was down to 50m at Clifftop and 25 feet at Sea level, CG helo 106 was tasked to overfly the area above the fog level using radar to try and locate the container, a beach search from Beer head to Branscombe mouth found nothing ashore, a tug in the area was also searching using his radar , but nothing was found and all units were stood down, The CG team would return at first light to carry out a visual search and warn local fisherman of the possible danger.
20-Mar 1315 Branscombe Westcountry ambulance request Coastguard assistance with a Hang glider crashed on Branscombe beach, Initial report indicated the pilot had fallen about 30 feet and sustained a broken arm, The air ambulance was first on scene, after treatment the casualty was airlifted by the Air ambulance to hospital. Numerous hang gliders and paracenders were enjoying the onshore breeze when the accident happened. It appears the initial report was incorrect, apparently the pilot landed on the beach but then stumbled , fell and broke his arm.

07-Mar 1332 Salcombe Hill Lady collapsed on Salcombe Hill, CG tasked to locate casualty and then assist Westcountry Ambulance service, casualty airlifted by Air ambulance to R D & E hospital, Casualty is believed to have suffered a stroke
06-Mar 1709 RRS Equipment failure on DSC, line fault cleared
26-Feb 1524 Hooken Cave A 60 year old man suffered a suspected heart attack in Hooken cave, half way up the cliff near Beer head, Air ambulance and paramedics also tasked, casualty was treated on scene by the paramedics. The only options for recovery of the casualty on a stretcher from the cave, was for him to be winched up the cliff or airlifted out, the air ambulance has not got a winching facility so a rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor was tasked. The Cliff team prepared for a cliff recovery while the helicopter was on route just in case the helicopter was unable to get near enough to the cliff to winch. Rescue 169 was able to winch the casualty out of the cave and into the aircraft before transferring him to hospital, the casualty was concious throughout. While winching the casualty the aircraft was within 25 feet of the cliff. A follow up call to the hospital on Monday 28th confirmed the casualty had suffered a Heart attack and was admitted to the coronary care unit, he is recovery well and is expected to leave hospital this week.
24-Feb 1503 Chit rocks A dog had got himself stuck under a rock on the beach, a member of the public dug the sand and pebbles away to allow the dog to free itself.
14-Feb 1933 Beer Several marine pyrotecnics washed ashore on Beer beach, further searches made of Seaton and Branscombe beaches, nothing more found. The 30 year old flares were handled and packaged in accordance with the new TEP guidelines and will be transported to Poole for disposal.
13-Feb 1109 Branscombe-Sidmouth Devon and Cornwall police request a search for a missing 11year old boy, last seen around 1700 on Saturday 12th. Police had been searching the Honiton area all night, until new information was received around 1040 today that he was last seen on the beach between Branscombe and Sidmouth. The CG helicopter also tasked to search Beer Head to Sidmouth. The boy was located around 1200 by the CG helicopter, although very cold and wet he was ok, he was airlifted back to a waiting ambulance at Sidmouth, and transferred to the R, D & E Hospital for further treatment. The weather on scene was low cloud, heavy rain, a southerly gale and rough seas up to the cliffs, The casualty was extremely lucky to survive the night considering the weather, temperature and the clothing he was wearing.
31-Jan 1811 RRS Equipment failure due to remote line fault
30-Jan 1443 Sidmouth Male with head injury, reportedly caused by a falling rock from the cliff, casualty was treated by the helicopter Paramedic before being airlifted to RD & E hospital for further treatment.
26-Jan 1850 Beer Dog reported over the cliff above Poundspool beach, The dog had chased a pigeon in to the bush's. Unfortunately the 22 month old Springer Spaniel was located deceased on the beach by Lyme Lifeboat, 'Willow' was taken to Beer beach for the owner. WARNING please keep your dogs on the lead near the cliff edge, even when the cliff edge is fenced.
15-Jan 1110 Sidmouth Kite surfer reported in difficulty, casualty made shore safely on his own, no injuries
9-Jan 1452 Jacobs Ladder A 2 year old Jack russell dog stuck on the cliff 30 feet from the top, after it chased rabbits up the cliff from the bottom, Cliff team recovered the uninjured dog to the top and reunited him with his owner.
9-Jan 1350 River Axe Unmanned raft drifting out of the river mouth approx size 10' x 8' raft towed back to shore by Sidmouth lifeboat, and handed over to the harbour master.
